Who Should I Buy From?

I want to put forward some criteria that can help you decide who to buy from. Ultimately it's your decision but there is some information that can help.

Country of Origin
Is the camera coming from the same country as you? The price can be the deciding factor of whether this matters or not, but the only thing to consider is if something goes wrong, where you need to send it.

When a camera designed for a different country is imported into yours, it's called a "grey" import. An example is a camera which is made for the US market that is brought into Australia.

Warranty
If a camera is the version built for the same country you live, it will come with 1 year warranty given by the manufacturer. This is handy when buying online because you can take it to an authorised repair centre yourself and not back to where you got it from, which is good if the seller is't around anymore.

Reputation
The kind of reputation the seller has plays a big role in the kind of service you'll get. It's the service that matters when things go wrong and when you need your questions answers quickly and honestly.

Tax
Most sellers will absorb tax to keep their prices competitive, so this is a big plus for those who are able to claim back tax, making the price of the camera even cheaper. Tax can be claimed back if the seller is registered to charge it and it is stated in the invoice.

Authorised Seller
A seller that is authorised to sell the products they do, tells you that the manufacturer is happy enough to trust their reputation to them - not an easy feat!
